unusual Japanese torii!

unusual Japanese torii!

Today we would like to show you unusual Japanese torii! ⛩

Torii (Japanese: 鳥居) - U-shaped gates without doors, located on the way to a Shinto shrine and marking the beginning of the sacred territory where deities reside. The most common color of thorium is red. This is due to the fact that the color red, according to Japanese mythology, symbolizes vitality and protects against evil forces. However, in Japan you can find torii of various shapes and colors, and here are some of them:

🌸 Pink torii in Ozora on the way to Yamatsumi Shrine. The peculiarity of this gate is its bright pink color, which perfectly complements the picture of the surrounding nature: the field around is covered with a blanket of pink moss phlox, known as shibazakura.

🌸 White torii near the Sakurai Temple. White color symbolizes sacredness, holiness and purity.

🌸Golden torii at Mikane Temple, Kyoto. The gold color was chosen for a reason, because one of the main revered deities in this temple is Kanayamahiko no Mikoto, the patron of metals.

🌸 Black torii at Shoin Temple, Tokyo. One of the most unusual torii, as gates in black are extremely rare.
